Right now the 645 firmware treats the Apo-Makro-Planar lens as a pure manual focus lens with focus confirmation and ignores the lens' aperture ring but do you think this feature is useful?

The Apo-Makro-Planar would fake and report to the camera body that it is an autofocus lens if the lens' aperture ring is set to anywhere from f/4 to f/32 and if the camera body is configured to be in ONE SHOT mode the shutter won't trip unless it is in focus.

You may keep the shutter depressed and turn the manual focus ring and the shutter will fire only if something is in focus.

Let's call this the focus trap feature.

This can be turned off if the lens' aperture ring is set to f/45.

My positive vote. BTW, would it be possible if the lens shots in normal manual focus when the aperture is between f/4 - f/32 while in focus trap function in f/45? It seems to be more logical and intuitive operation if the special function switch is set in the end aperture location? Please excuse my igorance if there is consideration in technicalities.

My only worry is that it may confuse people switching back and forth between MP120 and real autofocus lenses. You have a great point, though and I will see if I can make the focus trap feature defeatable.

To disable the focus trap feature for Apo-Makro-Planar 120/4:
Set camera's aperture to f/45, set lens' aperture ring to f/16.
Press DOF preview, and release it.
Set camera's aperture to f/11, set lens' aperture ring to f/22.
Press DOF preview, and release it.
Set camera's aperture to f/32, set lens' aperture ring remains at f/22.
Press DOF preview, and release it.
Set camera's aperture to f/16, set lens' aperture ring remains at f/22.
Press DOF preview, and release it.
Camera's aperture remains at f/16, set lens' aperture ring to f/8.
Press DOF preview, and release it.
